Star Wars: Episode IX marketing spoils role of new character

New poster for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker possibly spoils the role of a new character in the final installment of the Skywalker Saga.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently less than three months away and fans are ripe with speculation regarding what the movie will entail.

Despite being so close to the release date, information about what is expected to be the final installment of the Skywalker Saga has been surprisingly scarce. To this point, Disney and LucasFilm have released very little to promote the film, aside from two teasers and a few TV spots.

One thing we do know for certain is The Rise of Skywalker will introduce new characters who are expected to play prominent roles in the movie, and new promotional material circulating around the internet may have spoiled the role of one of those aforementioned characters.

POTENTIAL SPOILER WARNING FOR THE RISE OF SKYWALKER******

Actress Keri Russell has been confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming film, playing a new masked character named Zorri.

Russell has worked with Star Wars :Episode IX director J.J. Abrams before as the star of his breakthrough hit TV show Felicity, so its probable that based off of their history together, he is giving her a sizable role in the film.

When asked about her role in the film, Russell stated in an interview that “I can’t wait for you to meet Zorri. She’s very cool and a little bit shady. She’s kind of a criminal and sort of this old friend of Poe’s”.

Despite being described as a “scoundrel” and a “criminal”, a new poster promoting the film may have spoiled that she will be fighting alongside the Resistance in The Rise of Skywalker.

As you can clearly see in the poster, the left side features “the light” and right side features “the darkside”, and located below Rey and to the right of Poe Dameron is an image of Zorri.

Seeing as she is being featured predominately on the poster and given her positioning on the left side alongside the other protagonists, it clearly implies that she will be fighting alongside Rey and the Resistance in the film.

Her specific role in the film has yet to be revealed however, as Zorri has not featured very heavily in the promotional trailers released for the films, although a Lego toy leak shows her flying an X-Wing figher, so given her relationship with Poe, she could join him in a space battle against the empire.
