While many fans were celebrating the new trailer dropping yesterday, I’m quietly contemplating what this trailer represents for every Star Wars fan and what we have to look forward to once the Skywalker Saga has ended.
The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer was amazing, but beyond the aesthetics and the character reveals, the trailer had a weighty message – “The Final Trailer”… the very last trailer we’ll ever get for the Skywalker Saga.
Some fans might be OK with this, but I’m sure there is a large portion of the fandom that is going to feel very bitter-weet come December 19. The Year that the Skywalker Saga came to an end.

For some fans, this is indeed the end of a lifelong obsession with so many beloved characters, myself included. The final trailer was exhilarating, but it also marks a significant turn in the road for one of the largest pop culture franchises in the world. Are you ready to say goodbye to these characters you’ve spent countless hours thinking about, writing about and talking about?
It’s not going to be easy for me, and I suspect it won’t be that easy for a lot of others.
We know other Star Wars films are coming along with more content on streaming services like Disney Plus. There will be plenty of Star Wars to keep many fans satisfied, without a doubt.
But it’ll never be Luke or Leia or Kylo Ren or Rey, not ever again and that is kind of a sad thing to admit. With that said, I am more excited for the final film than I have been for any of the other prequel trilogy films before it. I’m not quite sure why that is, I guess as a fan I am also looking forward to the end, to everything finally coming full circle.
I hope most fans will enjoy the final movie, but I know that there will undoubtedly be a lot of unsatisfied Star Wars fans somewhere in the world. It’s true when they say “you can’t please everyone all of the time, but you can please some people some of the time”.
I hope that I’m one of those fans that won’t feel unsatisfied or unhappy about the end of the Skywalker saga because it is a big deal for me and for a lot of other fans, too.
