Darth Plaugeis Explained

One of the best scenes in Revenge of the Sith is when Anakin meets with Chancellor Palpatine in the Opera House. They are watching some sort of Space Opera show with moving lights and figures with dramatic sounding music playing over it. Palpatine tells his advisors to leave and then goes on to explain the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise to Anakin.

Basically he says that Darth Plagueis was his master and could create life using the Midichlorians and cheat death. He is telling Anakin what he wants to hear, and also insinuates it was Plagueis and his apprentice that created Anakin himself. It’s a great scene in which Ian McDiarmid really nails his part and does some of his best work as Palpatine/Sidious.

In Rise of Skywalker, it would be nice to get a little more light shed on Darth Plagueis. Was he truly Sidious’ master? Did he indeed know how to cheat death, and create life? Did he create Anakin and does the Emperor’s resurrection have to do with his teachings? Was Snoke Plagueis?

All of these questions should be answered in the final chapter of the Skywalker story and could be with just a few lines of dialogue.
