Star Wars: 5 things from Revenge of the Sith we want in Episode IX
By Nik Edlund
Epic Lightsaber Battle
Revenge of the Sith is noted for having arguably the greatest lightsaber fight of all time. Anakin and Obi-Wan’s duel is truly epic. At times it does seem over-choreographed and ends with the ridiculous “High Ground” moment, but overall it is a fight that was worth the nearly 30-year wait.
The final lightsaber battle in Rise of Skywalker needs to rival this amazing battle between former master and Padawan.
Rey and Kylo Ren are clearly destined for a lightsaber battle or two in this final film. We’ve gotten plenty of glimpses of it in the trailers and the hundreds of TV spots that have come out in the last week.
Their looming battle looks to be an inverse of the fight in Revenge of the Sith. Instead of battling in lava and fire the two are battling on the watery grave of the Second Death Star. Instead of extreme heat, they’ll be dealing with cold and wetness.
It is an impressive setting for a duel, and hopefully, this one can be looked at in time as being just as good as the one in Episode III.
