Cantina Song

More from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker

A New Hope is a classic for many reasons, and its score from John Williams is right up there. From the booming main theme over the opening crawl, all the way to the closing theme over the end credits, the soundtrack for Episode IV is truly iconic.

One of the most iconic songs on this amazing soundtrack is the Cantina Song.

It’s played by Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes in the Cantina in Mos Eisley. It is a truly alien-sounding track that goes well with all the exotic-looking creatures that fill this spaceport of scum and villainy.

It’s a song that hasn’t been used in any other film, as it is truly specific to that one scene. However, one has to believe that there isn’t just live music in the Star Wars universe. There must be recorded music that one can play when they wish, whether that is through some sort of device or a droid.

If that’s the case it would be a nice addition to hear this song even briefly for a moment in The Rise of Skywalker. Perhaps the droid hacker Babu Frik listens to music when he does his work, and that song happens to be playing in his shop before he encounters our heroes. Or maybe it is being whistled by a previous character like Maz Kanata or even Lando Calrissian as they casual saunter to a Resistance debriefing.

Whatever the case, hearing this song one last time would bring a smile to many Star Wars fans’ faces.
