AT-ATs

We did see an old AT-AT in The Force Awakens. Rey turned it into her home and that was a great touch. Seeing one functional and used in the final battle would be something else altogether, and be something that fans would appreciate.

We already know that the classic Star Destroyers are making a comeback in The Rise of Skywalker. Apparently Emperor Palpatine had a stash and stored them in ice sometime before his death on the Second Death Star. We see them bust out of the ice in the trailer and there appear to be hundreds of them, if not thousands, in the final battle against the Resistance.

If the Emperor stashed Star Destroyers it would make sense he’d also store some of these giant walking battle tanks. There appears to be a battle on the ground as well as in space, so seeing some of these classic giant walking beasts attack the ground forces of the Resistance would fit right in. The First Order had its own spin on AT-ATs in The Last Jedi. Those had more of a primate look and while they are cool in their own right, seeing these classic beasts in action one more time would be a hit of nostalgia right to the gut.
