10. The Rise of Count Dooku

How does a man who trained the most dad-status Jedi (Qui-Gon Jinn) become overtaken by the dark side of The Force? We’re not sure, Lucasfilm. Why don’t you tell us!

Allegedly, Dooku was still on the Jedi council as a loyal member until Qui-Gon’s death at the saber of Darth Maul. Upon hearing of his former Padawan’s death, Dooku left the Jedi council and was then snatched up by Palpatine, who had just lost Darth Maul. Maybe they bonded over the loss of their beloved trainees? Either way, Dooku decided to join Palpatine, despite him being the one who trained the Sith who killed Dooku’s friend.

Before we go ahead and say Lucasfilm should combine Count Dooku’s story with Qui Gon’s, let us offer up this possibly forgotten anecdote: Dooku was trained by Yoda. In case any viewers missed that epic cave fight scene between Yoda and Dooku in Attack of the Clones, there must have been many incredible training sessions when Dooku was a Padawan Learner. On top of that, Dooku renounced his familial title and responsibilities to become a Jedi. And family drama always makes for a solid film premise.
