5. Jabba the Godfather Hutt

He’s a smuggler, crime lord, mob boss and, arguably, the “Godfather” of the Star Wars galaxy–except maybe worse. Jabba the Hutt is famous for not only being green, greedy and gross, but also for being a master of intimidation, surrounded by an inner circle of lieutenants as evil as they are loyal. But have we ever asked ourselves how Jabba became so revered in the Star Wars crime circuit?

He really seems to pop up everywhere, and he lived for a long time. He must have spent years building his empire of blood money, slaves and bounty hunters. Even Han Solo, who is known for being a cocky and smug anti-hero able to sneak and sweet-talk his way out of every bad situation, fears Jabba.

For the most part, Jabba’s an evildoer who lurks in the background. He occupied a dark corner of the Star Wars universe that deserves a spotlight. A film about Jabba’s ascension could be gripping.
