After the first four episodes of The Mandalorian and the meteoric rise of everyone’s favorite “asset”, Baby Yoda. I can’t help but wonder what the future might hold for Star Wars cutest new addition.

With Star Wars‘ first live-action TV show, The Mandalorian, the world was introduced to the cutest character Star Wars fans have ever seen. He isn’t just cute. Baby Yoda brings many questions about adult Yoda’s species, and if he is a child of Yoda, he changes the way we view a fan-favorite character forever.

Everyone seems to have a million questions about “the Child” and his past, but I can’t help but worry about his future? After all, how can Disney introduce such an instantly lovable and captivating character, and have no plan for his future in canon.

More from Baby Yoda

Here are some ways I could see Disney handling everyone’s favorite green bundle of joy.

Baby Yoda will appear in The Rise Of Skywalker

I will admit, this one does not seem likely. If anything can be taken from how Marvel has handled the crossing over of movies and TV, it is that they will occasionally borrow movie characters in episodes of a television series, but they do not ever bring original TV characters into their films.

Disney possibly using the same model for Star Wars does not bode well for the prospects of seeing Baby Yoda on the big screen.

That being said, why not strike iron while it is hot? Can you imagine the complete hysteria if we saw Baby Yoda on the big screen? It would be incredible if handled properly, and would be a cameo guaranteed to excite even the most casual Star Wars fan.

We already know that Palpatine appears, and Star Wars films usually contain some sort of surprise twist. Could a Baby Yoda appearance be the big surprise in Episode IX?

The new trilogy of films beginning in 2022 will focus on Baby Yoda

There has been a shroud of mystery surrounding the trilogy of movies that will begin releasing in 2022.

Perhaps this was intentional, and they will capitalize on the insane popularity of The Child by teasing these three films will center on furthering his story. Star Wars trilogies have traditionally been based around force-sensitive characters and their journey, and if anyone is worthy of being the first non-Skywalker at the center of the galaxy, it is Baby Yoda.

We get a novel or comic book series

This is what I believe to be the most logical and likely choice, because it allows Disney to move quickly to create more stories about its hottest character. A Baby Yoda novel or comic series would work best if we discovered The Child’s name, but it could still work as advertising the story’s main character if it were titled “The Child” or “The Asset”.

Given the confirmation that The Mandalorian Season 2 will happen, I doubt we will see a continuation of Baby Yoda’s story, unless it were filling the gaps between Seasons 1 and 2. I would prefer we get more back story on what happened before we first see The Child in Episode 1.

What has Baby Yoda been doing for these past 50 years?  What was he like during the Clone Wars? Questions like these would serve perfectly as a plot to a fleshed out novel, or an art driven comic run.

So how would you like to see Baby Yoda utilized as a character moving forward? Would you enjoy a trilogy of films based around The Child, or would you prefer his story be fleshed out in a novel? Could you see the character making a cameo appearance in Episode IX? One thing is for sure, we want more Baby Yoda! See more of “The Asset” when The Mandalorian returns Wednesday, December 18th on Disney+.
