Porgs

Porgs were the loveable puffin like creatures that inhabited the planet of Ahch-To where Rey encounters Luke Skywalker. They stayed mostly to the background, getting into minor mischief as they took interest in the new visitors to their home.

The Porgs end up taking a liking to Chewbacca as they hang around him and even change his mind about eating one that he has on a rotisserie. One gets onto the Millennium Falcon and ends up traveling with Chewie and Rey to Crait.

The Porgs are, for the most part, harmless. They don’t speak so they aren’t annoying like Jar Jar Binks. They don’t pick up weapons and suddenly beat up stormtroopers either, so they aren’t unbelievable like the Ewoks. They are just adorable creatures that live in the Star Wars universe.

Most fans would be just fine seeing at least one of these little buggers show up in The Rise of Skywalker. It looks like they’ll get their wish too, as one appeared in the corner of an international poster for Episode IX. Also if Rey travels back to Ahch-To as we see in a TV spot, it would make sense to see a Porg or two running around the island.
