Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: J.J. Abrams confirms what Finn wanted to tell Rey

Finn attempted to tell Rey something in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. J.J. Abrams confirms exactly what this was.
Warning! Spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker are inbound as we discuss what exactly it was that Finn wanted to tell Rey.
During the first half Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Finn, Rey, Poe, Chewbacca, and C-3PO end up being engulfed in what appears to be, at first glance, quicksand. It’s not actually quicksand, but the true name of what they got sucked into escapes me.

It was during this scene where Finn calls out to Rey. He attempts to tell her something he has never told her before but is unable to finish his sentence thanks to the quicksand. We never find out what it was he tried to say by the time the movie ends, leaving a lot of fans having to make their own assumptions.
Thankfully, J.J. Abrams has confirmed what Finn was trying to say; and it is was not a failed declaration of love to Rey for all of you thought it. Finn was actually trying to tell Rey that he is in fact Force Sensitive. This was confirmed by Abrams following a screening of the movie when asked by a fan in the crowd.
Now, for some of you, this may come out a bit left field, but there is plenty of evidence to support this claim in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and also the movies that came before.
It was also hinted at by John Boyega himself shortly after the movie’s release. He was asked by a fan via Instagram what it was he was trying to say. Boyega opted to give a very cryptic answer leaving us all to wonder.
It will be interesting to see if this is confirmed within any of the deleted scenes of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. No doubt there will be many and it wouldn’t be at all surprising if this confession was in amongst them.
We’ll just have to wait and see though.
