Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams) in STAR WARS: EPISODE IX.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is dividing opinion, but let’s talk about what stories emerged as a result of this final chapter, and where they could go from there.

Warning: Spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ahead.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker has officially wrapped up the Skywalker saga, and while some aren’t exactly pleased with how they did so, to avoid digressing too much, let’s instead talk about where we go from here.

Disney has already told us about a couple of spin-offs coming our way. Cassian Andor is one, detailing the Rogue One hero before he met his demise.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is also going to have his own story, though we don’t know much else about it other than that Ewan McGregor is going to return to his role.

All of this is exciting news, but The Rise Of Skywalker has given us a few more to think about, and I want to talk about the three most interesting ones to spring up from the last chapter. The first one is already in production, as Disney confirmed a Lando spin-off, but the details were hinted at in The latest Star Wars installment. So let’s talk:

3. Who’s Jannah’s daddy, and what does he do?

This one was the most obvious set-up. Jannah, sitting next to Lando Calrissian at the end of then movie, admits that she doesn’t know where she comes from or who she is (a common problem in this galaxy far, far away).

Lando, in return, says “Well, let’s find out.” Seeing as how the credits rolled two minutes later, it’s safe to say we never exactly found out. That means that either Disney is going to leave that storyline for our interpretation (Lando is her dad) or they are going to open it up to a spin-off where we find out that Lando is her father.

There was a rumored Lando Disney+ series with Danny Glover as young Lando. That’s well and good. But my hope, as bleak a hope as this is, is still that we’ll pick it up right there, with Billy Dee Williams as Lando helping her uncover her past. I realize that’s a bit unrealistic.

But that said, while this isn’t really a spin-off “opened up” by The Rise Of Skywalker, it did give us an idea of where that spin-off is going to go, and the angle they’ll take.

But can we have a Billy Dee Williams spin-off anyway?
