2. A new droid
No Star Wars story gets far without a droid. Or two. Or sixteen. Really you can’t have too many droids. I thought you could, then The Rise Of Skywalker brought D-O in and I was like, “yeah, there’s room for him.”
With the tragic and heroic death of IG-11 (a moment of silence, please), the droid presence has been lost, and right at the moment that Din Djarin overcame his hatred of them. In that touching moment, I truly thought that IG-11 was in this for the long-haul. Then he died, and I had flashbacks to K-2SO dying, and now I’m digressing, because I’m sad.
The Mandalorian needs a new droid. And not just because This Is The Way (of the Star Wars universe) but because if we truly want to see Din Djarin’s character arc cement well enough, we need to see him build a good relationship with a droid. And he wants that too. You could see it in his eyes.
So we’ve got that too. And frankly, Star Wars has been knocking it out of the park in the droid department lately. Just think, the last few have been BD-1, D-O and IG-11.
