One of the questions left unanswered in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is the fate of Broom Boy. This has now been addressed by one of the writers.

While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker answered many questions from The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, it also left a lot of questions unanswered. One of them was Broom Boy, a young boy who we encountered in The Last Jedi on Canto Bight.

Broom Boy was apty named because we witnessed him use the force to make a broom fly into is outstretched hand. This then led to lots of speculation about the future of the Jedi. However, he was non-existent in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Not even a brief mention in fact.

Chris Terrio had the following to say on the subject; specially on the question of if they still exist:

"Yes, of course, the galaxy is full of Force users like Broom Boy, and you don’t have to be a Skywalker or a Palpatine in order to be strong with the Force."

"considering that this was a story of the Palpatines and Skywalkers, at least these nine movies, we decided to focus on the family part."

While it isn’t a concrete answer to why they didn’t revisit this storyline. It does suggestion that they didn’t just completely forget either. Meaning that one day they could very well revisit this storyline again. Whether it be in one of the new movies planned for the future or one of the many Star Wars TV shows currently in the works.
