Maz Kanata

Maz Kanata is a unique character in the Star Wars saga. She’s is this grandmotherly type of figure who is a neutral ground for all types of scum and villainy. Her castle is home to anyone, it doesn’t matter if their allegiance is to the First Order or the Resistance. Maz would be higher on this list, but after her debut in The Force Awakens, she was used sparingly during the remainder of the Sequel Trilogy.

The Last Jedi uses Maz briefly via hologram as she tells Poe and company how to find the master codebreaker. Her role in The Rise of Skywalker is also brief, as she plays more of a caretaker type to Leia. It’s too bad as the set up for Maz was strong but she kind of just fizzles out in the final two films.

Maz is unique as she can use the Force but is not a Jedi. She plays a bit of a mentor role to Rey and leads her to the Skywalker family lightsaber. She guides Rey and also shows tough love to Finn, trying to get him to make the right decision to stay and not flee from his fear of the First Order.

The best part about Maz is her apparent crush on Chewbacca and the fact she calls him her boyfriend. Maz Kanta is a great addition to the Star Wars universe, it just would’ve been nice to see her do a little more throughout the films.
