BB-8

BB-8 was the new droid of the Sequel Trilogy. He was one of the first things we were shown as part of the Sequels, as the shot of him racing across the sands of Jakku was one of the first shots of The Force Awakens teaser trailer. F

ans were going nuts over this ball droid and there is no denying the amazing design that went into him. He’s kind of snowman-shaped with his body being a big white ball and a smaller half ball balancing on top. His orange circles are a nice contrast to that white body and his head resembles R2-D2 giving us a sense of familiarity. He is the property of Poe Dameron and is fiercely loyal to him. He befriends a reluctant Rey who eventually agrees to help BB-8 get back to the Resistance.

BB-8 is extremely helpful. Numerous arms and gadgets stick out of his body and he’s able to fix many more things than one would think at first glance. BB-8 also fits in an X-Wing and helps Poe, when he’s in a dog fight with the TIE fighters of the First Order playing a similar role to R2-D2 in the other trilogies.

BB-8 is also extremely brave. In The Last Jedi, he basically sacrificed himself to fix Poe’s X-Wing by using his head to stop the fraying circuits of the ship. This temporarily fixes the issue and Poe is able to take out the cannons of the Dreadnaught Star Destroyer. BB-8 is a great sidekick who is right up there with C-3P0 and R2-D2 and provides a great mix of comic relief and heroism.
