The 9 best new characters in the Sequel Trilogy

Babu Frik was the unexpected star of The Rise of Skywalker. This cute critter with his wee little welding tools, goggles, and muffled way of talking, captured the hearts of moviegoers around the world last December.

The whole idea of his character is genius. A droid hacker is something we have never seen before in a Star Wars movie. It makes a ton of sense though, as there would be a need for that in a world that is so dependent on droids. The fact that he’s a black market droid hacker that Poe knows through his questionable past, makes it even better.

Babu Frik provides some of the biggest laughs in The Rise of Skywalker. He has to wipe Threepio’s memory so he can read the Sith writings on the dagger the gang found. After he does that, Threepio says hello to everyone and only Frik replies as if he’s just meeting the golden droid for the first time.

J.J. Abrams and company gave everyone a scare as the planet that Babu lives on, Kijimi, was destroyed about halfway through the film and we are lead to believe he’s still on it when that happens. Thankfully, he shows up in the final battle, popping his head up from Zorii Bliss’ cockpit to reveal the best new character from The Rise of Skywalker lives on to fight another day.
