Star Wars: Ewan McGregor discusses reported Kenobi series delay
With reports that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series will be delayed, Ewan McGregor had a message Star Wars fans will want to hear.
Many Star Wars fans were not pleased when reports surfaced the Obi-Wan Kenobi series set to be on Disney+ will be delayed. According to Collider, the delay will occur because Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was not happy with the scripts, and as a result they plan on reworking the writing for the series.
Ewan McGregor, who is set to reprise his role as Obi-Wan in this series, spoke on the show’s delay, and he seems to believe that everyone needs to calm down.

Speaking to Variety at the Birds of Prey fan event, McGregor said:
"“I think we start shooting early next year as opposed to summer this year. I think the scripts are great. They’re in really good shape. They want them to be better. I think we keep our same airdate. All good.”"
This is a pretty significant quote from McGregor, who also starred as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars Prequel films. Despite the delays to filming the series, he thinks they will still have the same airdate. If that’s the case, this news really isn’t anything to be too worried about.
McGregor continued, and said “it’s not really as dramatic as it might seem.”
In a meantime, fans will still get to see plenty of new Star Wars content on Disney+. In February, Season 7 of The Clone Wars will be released. Then, in the fall of 2020, Season 2 of The Mandalorian will be released. While fans get all this new content, hopefully the Kenobi series will be revised and good to go before we know it.
The delay of the Obi-Wan series is certainly worth noting. However, if Ewan McGregor believes it’s not a big deal, perhaps there isn’t anything to worry about at this point.
