Mace Windu

Mace Windu was the level-headed, wise, seemingly all-seeing Jedi who kept a balanced viewpoint prominent in the Jedi Council. While others seemed to look to Yoda to provide their answers, Mace Windu was the only Jedi who seemed to come close to having the same eyes as the esteemed Jedi Master.

Windu always seemed sure of his choices too and provided a sense of stability in the films, a sort of grounding a lot of Jedi like Anakin benefited from. Plus, he was the only Jedi to wield a purple lightsaber and that just made him cool. Who knows why.

Mace Windu’s death, where Anakin cuts off the arm of yet another Jedi and allows Darth Sidious to send Windu to his electrifying end, was the real mark of Anakin’s turning toward the Dark Side.

Mace Windu had almost a god-like role in the Star Wars films and no one thought that he would be one of the first Jedi to die at Anakin and Palpatine’s hands since he was one of the only Jedi to also suspect the two of foul play. But our mighty, beloved hero fell all the same in the perfect storm of Anakin’s fear and Palpatine’s malicious evil.
