Star Wars Theory makes final decision on Vader Fan Film

Fans waiting to hear news regarding the Vader Fan Film from Star Wars Theory can stop waiting. A final decision/announcement has been made!

It’s been over a year since Star Wars Theory released Episode 1 of the Vader Fan Film which nearly broke the internet. The YouTube film has since grossed over 15 million views, almost 800,000 likes, and more since its release; with the number one question being asked by fans is when is Episode 2 coming out?

Star Wars Theory released a video today, February 9, titled “My Final Decision with the Channel.” Which, side note, completely scared me and other fans as I thought this was going to be announcement stating the channel was being shut down. Thankfully, this was not the case.

The 16-minute video goes into the events that occurred shortly after Episode 1 was released, along with how the Vader Fan Film came to be. Mostly it goes into the strict condition by Lucasfilm/Disney where Star Wars Theory could only fund the project using money straight out of his own pocket and being able to monetize the film or do any crowdfunding was not allowed.

This condition was not for just the first episode, but also any future episodes as well. Star Wars Theory made a video explaining all of this, along with how he has had to turn down multiple offers of sponsorship and even an offer of several millions to create the entire series.

All of this has unsurprisingly forced Star Wars Theory to rethink his plans. Funding an entire fan film project is not cheap; Episode 1 cost $160,000 to create.

And this is where today’s video comes in; and it is all good. Star Wars Theory makes it clear that it is probably not the smartest thing to do, especially financially, but Episode 2 of the Vader Fan Film will happen and will be coming out this year.

However, while this is good news, there was some bad news. The initial plan for the Vader Fan Film series was to create five episodes. There will now only be three.

You know what though. Having less episodes is fine, because having this Vader Fan Film is amazing; no matter how man episodes there are.
