Satine Kryze

Satine Kryze was a very compelling character with a strong connection to a long time and favorite Star Wars character, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Satine Kryze was the Dutchess of Mandalore and encountered Obi-Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka when there were rumblings that Mandalore was building an army to join the Separatists. The Jedi sent Obi-Wan to investigate and things get interesting.

We learn that Obi-Wan and Satine know each other from their younger days. Turns out when she was just a young Dutchess, Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn were sent to protect her when a civil war broke out on Mandalore. The two had close interactions and ending up falling in love, to the points where Obi-Wan tells her he would’ve left the Jedi Order if she asked him to.

This is important for a couple of reasons. It shows that Obi-Wan indeed had many of the same temptations as Anakin. He also found forbidden love with a woman of high ranking. Unlike Anakin, he was strong enough to not act on these feelings, even though he badly wanted to. This goes to show that Obi-Wan had a much stronger commitment to the Jedi Order than Anakin, and was, in turn, a much better Jedi Knight.

Satine’s story ends tragically as she is killed with the Mandalorian Dark Saber by Darth Maul and she dies in Obi-Wan’s arms. To know that Obi-Wan Kenobi fell in love adds a whole new layer to his character, making him more relatable and even better if that’s somehow possible.
