Star Wars: Baby Yoda merchandise could be delayed
Due to factories being shut down in China, some Star Wars fans may have to wait a bit longer for their Baby Yoda merchandise.
Star Wars fans couldn’t wait to get their hands on Baby Yoda merchandise. The plushies and toys were going to fill homes, but now it seems the wait might have to go on a bit longer.
While many non-apparel items weren’t coming out until mid-Spring, it seems some items may be delayed a little longer. Hasbro recently cited that due to the novel coronavirus, many toys will be delayed due part of the production occurring in China, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

That doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Many companies are facing similar issues.
When the coronavirus outbreak first occurred in China, the government shut down and quarantined many of the residents in the Hubei Province. This meant factories were shut down (which were already closed due to the Lunar New Year) and stayed closed even longer than anticipated.
While factories are finally re-opening, it will still be slow to get things back up to speed. There are many companies, not just Hasbro, that rely on these factories to produce its products. Given the backup in scheduling in production, potential back up at the ports, there’s no timetable yet as to when products are to be expected.
It’s unfortunate that these delays are happening, but health is first and foremost. A few weeks or months delay is nothing compared to ensuring people stay healthy.
I may have an item or two on pre-order, but I’m not in any rush to get it. It will be a nice surprise whenever they show up.
