Fleshed out Obi-Wan’s backstory

One borderline shocking thing that came out of The Clone Wars TV Show was Obi-Wan Kenobi’s expanded backstory. Turns out this crazy old wizard wasn’t just a straight-laced obedient Padawan learner. He was also tempted by life and more specifically love.

Yes, Obi-Wan Kenobi had a love interest. His love was the Dutchess of Mandalore Satine Kryze. Turns out the two met when he was much younger and on a mission to Mandalore with Qui-Gonn Jinn. They hit it off and grew close until the mission was completed and Obi-Wan had to return alongside his master. Years later during the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan was once again dispatched to Mandalore where there were rumblings that they were going to join the Separatists.

It didn’t take Obi-Wan and Satine long to have those sparks reignite and they again grew close. Obi-Wan also later assisted her with the Mandalorian civil war and her struggles with the group known as Death Watch.

They grew so close that Obi-Wan told her he would’ve left the Jedi Order for her if she asked him to. Satine tragically died in Obi-Wan’s arms after Darth Maul impaled her with the Darksaber. It was a tragic end to a love story that was probably never going to have a happy ending. Still, it’s fascinating to see the life Obi-Wan lived and the temptations and struggles he overcame before he met Luke on that fateful Tatooine day.
