Captain Panaka

Captain Panaka was the head of security for Queen Amidala in The Phantom Menace. He wore that flashy red leather smock over his blue jumpsuit and had a neat little hat. He was fiercely loyal to the queen and didn’t seem to be too fond of the Jedi, especially Qui-Gon Jinn.

Hugh Quarshie, the actor who played Panaka, publicly lashed out against being in the film and apparently didn’t enjoy working with George Lucas and all the green screens. It kind of shows on film too as Panaka is a bit of a grump.

What happened to Quarsh Panaka is something I’d tune into before watching another series about the start of the Rebellion lead by Cassian Andor. Apparently, after the Clone Wars, Panaka remained loyal to the Emperor and was made a Moff of the Chommell sector. He later died in a terrorist attack that was formed by Saw Gerrera.

The story of Captain Panaka could be a fun one season stint that would detail what a loyal servant chose to do when the world changed.
