A few weeks of speculation has led to a confirmation of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’s Disney+ release date. And we don’t have long to wait.

Star Wars fans waiting for The Rise of Skywalker to be released on Disney+ won’t have much longer to wait! Episode IX will be receiving its Disney+ debut on May 4, two months earlier than expected.

For the first time ever, the entire Star Wars saga will be available to stream in one place. Everything is here, from A New Hope right up to The Rise of Skywalker, with The Clone Wars, Rogue One, and Solo in between.

This comes hours after IGN reported on a placeholder for the film appearing on the US version of the Disney+ app. The film will be given a simultaneous worldwide release, however the Netherlands will receive the film on May 5 due to a national holiday.

Concept art takeover

In addition to the film’s release, the Disney+ app will receive something of a makeover to celebrate the occasion. Per a Disney+ UK press release:

"“In addition to new content offerings, Disney+ will also honour the artistry of Star Wars with a week-long concept art takeover on the service. Like a commemorative gallery, each film and series’ artwork will be updated on May 4th to feature its original concept paintings. From “Star Wars: A New Hope” to “The Mandalorian,” the updated art will feature work from celebrated artists such as the legendary Ralph McQuarrie and Academy Award-winning artist, author, and production designer, Doug Chiang. On the Disney+ home screen, the animated “Star Wars” brand tile, viewable on web and connected TV devices, gets upgraded with a new animation that honors the signature hyperspace jump.”"

With confirmation of The Rise of Skywalker’s Disney+ release, as well last week’s announcement that The Mandalorian will be getting a “making of” documentary series, May 4 is gearing up to be one of the most memorable in recent memory!
