Hondo Ohnaka

Hondo Ohnaka would be a perfect character not just to appear in a Taika Waititi-directed Star Wars movie but to be the featured character.

Waititi’s strength as a director is his use of action mixed with humor. No Star Wars character embodies those two traits more than Hondo Ohnaka. Ohnaka was one of the best characters created by Dave Filoni inThe Clone Wars and went on to have more memorable moments in the Star Wars: Rebels series.

He’s a dirty pirate with no real allegiances. He loves to make money, and get the best out of any deal he is a part of and will do anything to come out on top. He’s worked with the Sith, with the Jedi, and even fought against both at times. He truly cares only about himself but is still extremely likable due to his charisma and sharp wit.

Waititi would have a ton of fun writing lines for this character and with Ohnaka being around for a long period of time in the Star Wars universe, his film could be set during the Clone Wars, during the Rebel Alliance era, or even after the sequel films. There’s a lot of ways to go, and perhaps the entire movie could be about his life, and that would be extremely entertaining to watch.
