Star Wars: Characters we hope to see in Taika Waititi’s movie
By Nik Edlund
Bendu
Bendu was a giant horned beast who was a powerful wielder of the Force. He took no allegiance to the light or dark side of the Force instead, choosing to live in the gray area in the middle. He was a bit of a mentor to both Kanan Jarrus and Ezra Bridger in Star Wars Rebels and even passed knowledge unto Ahsoka Tano.
He talks in riddles and often lets out a hearty laugh after speaking. He loves asking questions as much as he’s giving answers and holds many secrets of the nature of the Force. Bendu is a character who could be available to use in just about any time frame this film is set in, so there are no real limits as to when he could be used. Fans would love to see this character appear on the big screen and Waititi could be the perfect director to bring him to life.
Waititi has experience writing for non-human characters. A couple of his best appeared in Thor: Ragnarok. Korg and his buddy Miek were a couple of scene sealers who injected a lot of fun and humor to that film. While Bendu isn’t exactly comic material, he’s a fun character nonetheless and could really benefit and come to life with Waititi’s wit giving him lines.
