3. An Obi-Wan and Satine romance

We’ve heard the story before … briefly. Obi-Wan and Duchess Satine met while he and his master Qui-Gon Jinn were assigned to protect her many years ago. He confessed he would have left the Jedi Order for her if she’d asked him to. She never did. And then it was too late.

But hello? How has no one turned this into a book yet?! Until The Clone Wars began, Obi-Wan was always the epitome of the perfect Jedi, one who never gave into temptation, lost his patience, or kept secrets.

Now, his story of love and tragic loss has not only made him a more well-rounded, relatable character, but it has also made his story a thousand times more heartbreaking. He didn’t just lose Anakin, the Jedi, and the Republic. He also watched the love of his life die in front of him, and there was no way he could openly grieve for her.

Not that he had much time to do that anyway. Which probably means that once he finally settled on Tatooine, all that loss had to have completely broken him, at least for a while.

Diving deeper into this part of Obi-Wan’s early life is an opportunity they absolutely cannot pass up. Because it’s not just a carbon copy of Anakin and Padmé’s forbidden romance, though it might seem that way at a glance. It runs parallel to it, but let’s be honest, we’ll take all the dramatic angsty Jedi-politician romance we can get.

We’ve had our hearts broken plenty of times already over this couple. What’s one more time?
