In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars rewatch, we learn more about Ahsoka’s foundation.

The beginning of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars arcs started right away. Rising Malevolence was the start of a three-part story and just the second episode of the series.

This episode – the seventh in the chronological rewatch – was full of intensity, but you always knew how it would end up. Plo Koon and his clone troopers were attacked by a secret Separatist weapon. The Separatists were intent on having no survivors so they couldn’t go back and tell the Republic about it.

More from Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Jedi master Plo Koon was stuck in an escape pod with a few clone troopers hoping someone would rescue them.

Even though the Jedi council said not to, Anakin and Ahsoka searched for him anyway – while not exactly telling the Jedi council where they were headed. This was another case of Anakin doing what he wanted despite having orders, but in this case, he was showing Ahsoka how to do it a bit more gently.

Why Ahsoka is the way she is in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Star Wars fans learn a lot about Ahsoka in this episode. She is loyal to those who have cared for her. She is willing to defy authority. Traits that only grow stronger as the series progresses.

Ahsoka was also brought to the Jedi by Plo Koon, which is why she feels so strongly about rescuing him. Her connection to him is strained, but for some reason she is Plo Koon is not dead.

Interestingly, Obi-Wan and Palpatine both told Anakin not to look for Plo Koon. Obi-Wan had his own reasons, but, of course, Palpatine’s reason were more devious.

While on their way to save Plo Koon, the Malevolence came back to ensure there are no survivors. On board is Count Dooku and General Grievous. Anakin escapes at the last moment and heads back to tell the Jedi Council exactly what the secret weapon is.

The Malevolence has ion cannons that knock out electricity to ships, which leaves them defenseless. That’s how whole platoons have been defeated.

While this might be a blow to the Separatists, I’m sure they have more tricks on the way.
