Latest Star Wars rumor has Thrawn coming to live action
If the latest Star Wars rumors weren’t enough for you, there is another that has popped up, which makes sense given previous rumors.
The rumor: Disney is searching for an actor to play a live-action Grand Admiral Thrawn, the logical blue alien that has made a name for himself through Timothy Zahn’s books and Star Wars: Rebels. The rumor comes from DisInsider

A previous rumor said Lucasfilm was looking for a live-action Ezra. Given how we last saw Ezra and Thrawn on Rebels, the two go hand-in-hand. You really can’t have without the other at this point.
While the recent rumors have been throwing many animated characters into live-action, this is one many fans would love to see. Thrawn became a character that fans quickly latched on to, even if he was part of the Empire. It seemed his work for the Empire was never about fanaticism and loyalty to the Emperor. He had bigger goals in mind.
What actors could play thrawn in a live-action Star Wars project?
If there were to be a live-action Thrawn, few actors come to mind.
Jason Isaacs
On the book cover, Thrawn: Alliances, Thrawn looks a lot like Jason Isaacs as noted here. He has the same facial features and is no stranger to the Star Wars universe. Isaacs also voiced The Grand Inquisitor in The Clone Wars.
Lance Reddick
Lance Reddick has a way commanding a screen. He strong and persuasive, but also unassuming. Just like Thrawn.
Lars Mikkelsen
You may have heard of his brother Mads Mikkelsen. He played Galen Erso in Rogue One. But Lars is also the voice of Thrawn in Star Wars: Rebels. He also looks a little bit like him.
Aldis Hodge
Aldis Hodge is an actor on the way up. Most recently he was featured in The Invisible Man. Hodge has a commanding presence and can be subtle when he needs to be. A perfect match for Thrawn.
Jon Hamm
Hamm is known for his comedy and drama, not so much action. Although that’s not to say he wouldn’t be able to throw down a little bit.
His facial features match the way Thrawn has been depicted in artwork.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
You might remember Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko on Lost, but has since appeared in dozens of other TV shows and movies since including Thor: The Dark World.
