Rebels revisited: the best episodes of Star Wars: Rebels
By Joshua Black
Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episode 10 – The Future of the Force
In this unforgettable Rebels episode, we see Ahsoka finally jump back into the action with a vengeance. Her duel with the Inquisitors is an absolute highlight of the show, not only for fans who had been waiting for her return for a long time but for any viewer with a love for epic lightsaber duels.
The episode also has a gripping plot of intrigue, as the crew of the Ghost uncovers a plot to abduct Force-sensitive babies, leading to some great moments for our favourite characters as they protect cute alien babies.
Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episode 17 – The Honourable Ones
More season two episodes! This fantastic episode sees Zeb and Kallus, two completely opposed enemies, forced to work together to fight for their lives.
It’s a familiar trope, but works fantastically well in a Star Wars format and triggers some great character development for the two, as well as setting off some truly great storytelling for later Rebels episodes.
It’s smaller-scale, character-focused episodes like this that makes Rebels such a wonderful, fan-favorite show.
Star Wars Rebels Season 2, Episodes 21 & 22 – Twilight of the Apprentice.
Wow. It was the reaction I had when I first watched the episode and the one I still have now as I watch Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka explore the Sith planet of Malachor, fend off Inquisitors, and come face-to-face with Maul!
All of which leads to the best lightsaber fight in Star Wars history between the old master and apprentice, Ahsoka and Vader! It’s a fight fans had been clamoring for, and Rebels delivers with a fantastically executed piece that affects the show for seasons to come.
This episode is pure perfection, some of the best Star Wars storytelling, and certainly the best story in Rebels.
