Hold onto your blasters there is a new Star Wars rumor going around. A new Clone Wars sequel TV series is in early development.

More from Star Wars: The Clone Wars

Specifically following the events of both Rex and Ashoka. Both of who we know turn up later in the Star Wars timeline. Both Rex and Ashoka make appearances in Star Wars: Rebels. Rex is also confirmed as a rebel fighter on the Forest Moon of Endor and Ashoka is set to appear in The Mandalorian Season 2.

Is the Star Wars rumor likely to come to be?

Honestly, it’s 50/50. Fans loved the Clone Wars. There is no denying that. In fact, many fans championed for the series to continue past the final season. So, the demand is clearly there.

Disney+ is also in dire need of original content. One thing the streaming platform lacks is this when compared to Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.

The only thing going against it is there are so many other Star Wars series going on right now it’s approaching the point of overkill.

With The Mandalorian Season 2 in the works along with the rumored spin-offs from the live action series. There is also the Cassian Andor series and Obi-Wan series in the works. A rumored Thrawn series came to light just last week and no doubt there is more that has not caught our attention yet.

The point is, there appears to be more in development than what is physically feasible. So until we get that official announcement from Disney/Lucasfilm themselves, we’ll keep this one in the rumor only box..
