The Mandalorian: Will we learn Baby Yoda’s name in Season 2?
Will we learn Baby Yoda’s name in Season 2 of The Mandalorian?
Even though we’ve been calling that little cutie pie Baby Yoda, that’s not his name. Since its debut in The Mandalorian, Star Wars has been calling him just The Child, but that really isn’t its name either.
It does have a name and it is still a secret, but will we learn Baby Yoda’s name in Season 2 of The Mandalorian?

It is certainly possible. The throwaway quote that left me to wonder if that was the case came about in Collider’s interview with Sam Hargrave. When asked if he knew the name of The Child, he said he did.
Perhaps learning the name was just a bonus of working on the series. However, it made me wonder if he also learned the name because it came up in the upcoming season. As of right now, Baby Yoda’s origins have been left a mystery. All we know is that it is 50 years old and can use the Force.
Anything else has been left up to the imagination.
The name itself doesn’t seem overly important, unless, of course, it is Yoda Jr. What would be important is how exactly we learn the name. This would mean coming into contact with someone from Baby Yoda’s past and learning more about where the cute creature came from as possibly Yoda’s species, in general.
With already so much being seemingly added to Season 2: the dark saber, live-action Ahsoka, Moff Gideon’s survival – learning more about Baby Yoda feels as though there would be a lot to cover in such a short amount of time.
But it is welcomed.
