With the announcement that a brand new Star Wars video game will be released in 2020, we take a look at some of the things we want from the title.

The announcement of a new Star Wars project is always exciting, but the announcement of a new Star Wars video game is almost more so. In recent history, fans of the Star Wars video games have been limited to just a handful of titles, so any new experience is met with immediate anticipation.

While that anticipation is often met (Jedi: Fallen Order in particular was a joy to play through), the heightened expectations can often lead to disappointment. See the recent entries in the Battlefront series.

With all that in mind, Star Wars: Squadrons enters the picture in a strange situation. Focused purely on star fighter combat, the title looks to offer Star Wars video game fans something they’ve not experienced since the days of the Rogue Squadron series. At a budget price, and releasing at the crossover point between this and the next console generation, it’s difficult to gauge just what to expect from the next entry in the video game line of Star Wars content.

We have a few ideas of how Motive Studios can meet, or surpass, those expectations, however. So, here are the five things we want to see from Star Wars: Squadrons.
