Naboo N1 Starfighter

The Naboo N1 Starfighter is one of the most surprising new ships that appeared in the prequels. It featured a sleek three-prong design with the engines coming to a point on the posterior end. It almost looks like a brushstroke that stopped and resulted in the design of a ship. The front engines are tubed shape and coated with a shiny chrome finish. There’s also room for an R2 unit behind the cockpit and to top off the whole thing, the ship is painted a canary yellow.

It’s a very artistic design that clearly shows the sophistication and creative culture of the people of Naboo. Despite being a beautiful and sleek design, the ship also packs a punch. When Anakin hides in the ship after he and his gang’s encounter with Darth Maul, he accidentally takes it on a flight. It is autopiloted to go to the Droid Control Ship and after Anakin tells R2 to get it off of autopilot, he begins to figure out the controls.

Despite his best efforts, which include the cool trick of spinning, Anakin crash lands the starfighter on the Trade Federation’s ship. When trying to get the engine to cool down, he initiates the cannon controls and the fighter shoots two powerful blasts to the core of the Droid Control Ship. The blasts easily destroy the core and the entire ship implodes.

These pretty looking starfighters were surprisingly strong aerial weapons and one of the better parts of The Phantom Menace.
