There have been numerous rumors of new characters in The Mandalorian season 2. Now, one key actress has shed some light on who we could potentially be seeing.

In Entertainment Weekly’s exclusive first look at The Mandalorian season 2, actress Gina Carano, who stars as Cara Dune alongside Pedro Pascal in the title role, gave an insight into casting rumors. Disney has likely had all of the cast members sign non-disclosure agreements, so despite remaining quiet about any real details, Carano did let slip that, “some of them [the rumors] are true, some of them are not true”.

While this could be taken in a wide variety of ways, reading between the lines would seem to insinuate that at least some of the rumors that have been flying around are true. While season 1 of The Mandalorian received rave reviews, the story was seemingly limited to only a few main characters. Carano makes it sound like that might be changing, and in the same EW article, showrunner Jon Favreau also hinted at a larger cast, saying:

"As we introduce other characters there are opportunities to follow different storylines. The world was really captivated by Game of Thrones and how that evolved as the characters followed different storylines- that’s very appealing to me as an audience member."

Given the secrecy that is involved in all aspects of Star Wars projects, it is possible that Carano and Favreau may be trying to pull the legs of the audience. However, it is more likely that at least some of the casting rumors will come to be a reality. There are many characters that have been floating around as potential season 2 mainstays. The majority of these characters have never been seen in live-action before and could translate well to the show.

Out of the numerous characters that have been tapped to possibly appear, there have been a few that have stood out in rumors. One likely candidate is definitely Ahsoka Tano. News of actress Rosario Dawson portraying the fan-favorite Tano in season 2 have been swirling for months, and while nothing is official yet, Dawson hasn’t exactly been quiet about the rumors.

Another potential addition is Boba Fett. The bounty hunter has been a cult favorite for four decades, and while his canon death did occur in Return of the Jedi, numerous Legends stories had him surviving his demise. It wouldn’t be a stretch to think that Lucasfilm could re-canonize Fett, especially since there have been reports that Jango Fett actor Temuera Morrison will appear in season 2 in some capacity.

Whether or not any of these rumors actually turn out to be true will be revealed on Oct. 30 when season 2 of The Mandalorian begins streaming on Disney +.
