2. Episode II: Owen Lars

When the news broke that Owen Lars was going to be making an appearance in Episode II: The Attack of the Clones, many fans were excited to see a younger version of a character they were introduced to in A New Hope.

Many wondered if the disgruntled moisture farmer was going to be portrayed as a person who was always grumpy and what his feelings and actions were to Anakin Skywalker. Would they be friends? Would they not get along, would Owen be in awe of the Jedi? Turns out it was pretty much just indifference.

Owen didn’t do much in the film other than introducing his girlfriend to Anakin and Padme. He then sat down with them for a glass of delicious blue milk, as Cliegg told the story of how Shmi was taken by the Tusken Raiders.

It would’ve been far more interesting to see Owen show some toughness and backbone and go out and search for Shmi with Anakin. He could’ve helped fight the Tuskens and also be a witness to Anakin’s slaughter of the Sand People. This would’ve given us a reason for Owen to have such disdain for Obi-Wan and his sorcery, and also why he was so protective of Luke and reluctant to let him leave the planet and join the Imperial Academy.
