8. Episode VIII: Captain Phasma

Phasma is a case of a cool looking character who doesn’t get much run in the Star Wars films she appears in. When the marketing came out for The Force Awakens, Captain Phasma created quite a stir. She was the first female Stormtrooper that we’ve ever seen and her armor wasn’t white, it was a shiny chrome. She also had a sweet black cape that flowed off of her shoulder and carried a staff that lit up with electricity. The fact that she was being played by Game of Thrones alum Gwendoline Christie also lead many to believe her role was much larger than it was.

She had little more than a cameo in Episode VII and her fate seemed sealed as she was thrown in a trash compactor prior to Starkiller Base being blown up.

When we got word she was going to be back for The Last Jedi many fans assumed her story would be fleshed out and she’d have a bigger role. Or worst case was that she’d live on to fight another day and finish out the trilogy. Instead, she appears very briefly and then is killed in battle against Finn and BB-8, and any shot at a redemptive arc was thrown out the window as her hate for the Resistance was evident with her dying breath.
