The writers for The Mandalorian season 2 have been revealed.

Ahead of The Mandalorian season 2 being released later this month, we now not only know who will be directing episodes in the new season, but we also know who’s written each episode.

It should come at no surprise to learn that showrunner Jon Favreau has, in fact, penned a majority of the episodes. This is all according to the Writers Guild of America, which updated its website to include this information on the show’s profile.

All in all, there are a total of three writers. Favreau’s penned a total of six out of eight. This includes the premiere and finale, along with episodes 2, 3, 4 and 6. The other two episodes? One of them will be written by none other than executive producer and The Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni, who’s written episode 5. And with another returning writer, the seventh episode in the series will be written by Rick Famuyiwa. (In season 1, he penned and directed the amazing episode “Chapter 6: The Prisoner.”)

This is about on par with the first season of The Mandalorian as well. Famuyiwa co-wrote his episode with Christopher Yost, Dave Filoni penned “Chapter 5: The Gunslinger,” and Favreau handled the rest of the season. With all of them together, it seems like a fool-proof plan that can’t go wrong. Season 1 walked away with several Emmys as of last month, after all. So as they say, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.

As far as directors, season 2 has Dave Filoni, Bryce Dallas Howard and Rick Famuyiwa set to return once again. But what should be really interesting is the episode that Carl Weathers (who plays Greef Karga) is set to direct. Again, with some solid written material, this should be an awesome opportunity for the actor to take a stab at directing something as epic as Star Wars. And since he’s already been a part of the series in the first season, he should have a great feel for how things are supposed to run, as well as his own creative vision for how the episode should come to life.
