Star Wars Books teased tons of excerpts of From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back on Twitter.
Star Wars is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Episode V — The Empire Strikes back all throughout 2020, and the celebration is continuing with a new book that’s set to hit shelves in November. That book is called From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back, which is a sequel to the first From a Certain Point of View book that was released in 2017 for A New Hope.
The same as the first book, the premise is to retell the story of the movie in focus but through the eyes of different characters. As such, the book is aptly titled since you’ll be getting all sorts of different points of view throughout the book.
This book, set to come out Nov. 10, is more like an anthology since it features a selection of original short stories, all written by numerous authors. With 40 authors in total, the book features writers like Hank Green, and others who have already penned Star Wars stories, including Amy Ratcliffe and Zoraida Córdova. Here’s an excerpt of a few of the stories being told, according to Amazon:
"Austin Walker explores the unlikely partnership of bounty hunters Dengar and IG-88 as they pursue Han Solo.Hank Green chronicles the life of a naturalist caring for tauntauns on the frozen world of Hoth.Tracy Deonn delves into the dark heart of the Dagobah cave where Luke confronts a terrifying vision.Martha Wells reveals the world of the Ugnaught clans who dwell in the depths of Cloud City.Mark Oshiro recounts the wampa’s tragic tale of loss and survival.Seth Dickinson interrogates the cost of serving a ruthless empire aboard the bridge of a doomed Imperial starship."
To highlight some of the stories that the authors have written, Star Wars Books shared excerpts from each of the authors’ short stories on Twitter today. With 40 authors, that means there were plenty of excerpts to share online, but we picked out a few that were quite interesting, which you can see below.

As you can see, there are some pretty good concepts in these books, especially when it comes to revisiting old characters. Obi-Wan Kenobi, for example, makes a return after his death in Episode IV. And we even get more intel from Solo’s L3-37, who is now the computer of the Millenium Falcon. Plus, there are even a few novel stories such as one from the person who has to prepare that awkward dinner with Darth Vader. And we’ll even get a pretty interesting Wampa story as well.
Overall, it looks like all the bases are covered when it comes to Empire, and it should make for quite the anthology series.
