5. Satine Kryze

The other Mandalorians on this list–Tarre Vizsla, Bo-Katan Kryze, Sabine Wren, and Gar Saxon–were all Mandalorian warriors. Duchess Satine Kryze was a different kind of Mandalorian as she was a pacifist leader who held values that differed from traditional Mandalorian culture.

Her beliefs were aligned with the New Mandalorian movement which believed in pacifism as opposed to Mandalore’s warrior culture of the past. Satine’s rule was met with opposition from many, including the group Death Watch that wanted to return Mandalore to its traditional roots.

When Death Watch teamed up with Maul and Savage Oppress to form the Shadow Collective, Satine’s rule came to an end. Maul brutally killed Satine in front of her sister, Bo-Katan, and the man she loved, Obi-Wan Kenobi.

While she was a controversial figure for many, Satine will always serve as a reminder that there are leaders who will stand up for what they believe is right and do what they think is best for their people, even if a refusal to compromise threatens that leader’s power and life. Satine’s legacy lived on through the heroic and uncompromising journeys of those she loved most–Bo-Katan and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
