While it may be hard to think about the season finale of The Mandalorian when we’re only three episodes into the season, at least we have something new to look forward to watching Pedro Pascal in.

Netflix is giving fans a first look at Pedro Pascal in the upcoming Robert Rodriguez film, We Can Be Heroes, which premieres on Netflix on New Year’s Day. The film is a sequel to the 2005 film The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D, and it sounds like it will be just as much wholesome family fun as the first film.

Pedro Pascal plays Marcus Moreno, a member of the superhero team the Heroics who seems to be on the verge of retirement. If you can’t get enough of the soft, fatherly side of Din Djarin every week on The Mandalorian, you’re in luck. Pascal is playing the father of Missy Moreno (played by YaYa Gosselin) who is one of the young band of superheroes who must go on a quest to rescue their kidnapped parents.

Here’s the synopsis via IMDb

"When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their kids are whisked away to a government safe house. But whip-smart tween Missy Moreno will stop at nothing to rescue her superhero dad, Marcus Moreno. Missy teams up with the rest of the superkids to escape their mysterious government babysitter, Ms. Granada. If they’re going to save their parents, they’ll have to work together by using their individual powers – from elasticity to time control to predicting the future – and form an out-of-this-world team."

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Rodriguez also commented on the fact that he had “wanted to work with Pedro since forever.” But we won’t have to wait until the We Can Be Heroes premiere to see Pedro Pascal and Robert Rodriguez working together.

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away — also known as May 4, 2020 — Robert Rodriguez revealed that he would be directing an upcoming episode of The Mandalorian. During the May the Fourth celebrations, Rodriguez shared a selfie of himself alongside the Child puppet in the cockpit of the Razor Crest.
