15. C3-PO

Don’t worry C3-PO, your invite wasn’t lost in the intergalactic mail system. How could we throw a party without inviting the best protocol droid this side of the Outer Rim? Now, he might end up driving the other guests crazy with his tedious personality, because he is C3-PO, but Threepio has been through a lot and he deserves to enjoy the merriment.

C3-PO will help you in the kitchen, clean up after dinner, and try to keep BB-8 from causing mayhem. He’s also an expert when it comes to communication, so you know he’ll keep the conversation flowing throughout the night. And he’ll provide a welcome distraction if any family fights do break out. After all, C3-PO has delegated for the Skywalker family for three generations.

He also elects himself to be the impartial judge of the sweater contest but gets rather flustered by the idea of choosing just one winner. He chose not to wear a holiday sweater but came prepared with his festive red arm. Without R2-D2 to steady him, he decides to come up with new categories so that everyone goes home with a special award.

Don’t be surprised if C3-PO gets nostalgic. He has a tendency to get emotional when he’s surrounded by his friends and loved ones. With Luke and Leia in attendance, you might even catch him telling stories about their parents, much to Obi-Wan Kenobi’s chagrin.

If you forgot any items for dinner, don’t send C3-PO off to pick them up. He has a very bad habit of getting kidnapped. You don’t want to deal with Cad Bane over the holidays, do you?

The holiday season may look a little different this year, but the most important part of Life Day and the holiday season is being there for your family and friends. Even if they’re in a galaxy far, far away. Regardless of who you invite over for the holidays, it is sure to be a party. So grab a mug full of Hoth chocolate and put the Death Star up on the top of the Tree of Life. You can make this holiday season special, whether you’re gathering with family or connecting with friends on the Holonet.

It is fun to imagine scenarios where you get to invite over your favorite fictional characters and set them loose with other characters they may never have had the opportunity to meet. Especially with Star Wars when there are thousands upon thousands of characters, both canon and legends, it’s hard not to imagine unexpected match-ups.

We’ll be spending Life Day wondering what Poe Dameron got for Finn and Rey this year and vice versa. Do droids celebrate the holiday too? Will C3-PO be tutting around, stressing about what to get for R2-D2, BB-8, and D-0? What do droids have on their wishlist? Maybe a new software upgrade?

What about Ben Solo? Did Han and Leia come together to make things work over the holiday when he was just a little boy? Did Chewbacca teach him about all of the traditions back home on Kashyyyk?
