11. Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker

Deciding to continue the Skywalker Saga 30 years after Return of the Jedi was a risky endeavor for Disney to take. Where to take the story? How to satisfy the fans? Instead of focusing on the original trilogy’s main cast of characters, J.J. Abrams decided to introduce a new cast of characters for a new generation of Star Wars fans. It might not have worked if it weren’t for Daisy Ridley’s performance as Rey. Rey is a scavenger with big hopes for her future but a past connection that keeps her from going anywhere.

Throughout the sequel trilogy, Rey is a genuinely compassionate character who believes in the good that people are capable of. Even when faced with the evil inside of Kylo Ren, she sees good in him, which eventually leads him back to the light. Ridley’s ability to convey Rey’s youthful innocence and caring heart make her character truly fascinating, especially considering who her family is. She’s fiercely protective of her friends, treating them like the family she’s never had, and Ridley makes it completely believable. Her most standout performances are with Adam Driver as the two wrestle with the respective destinies calling out to each of them.
