5. Liam Neeson as Qui-Gon Jinn

Liam Neeson is known for very recognizable Liam Neeson roles. Think skilled and intimidating mercenary, such as Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins or his role as the relentlessly protective father in Taken. But Neeson’s performance as Qui-Gon Jinn in The Phantom Menace made the Jedi Master responsible for training Obi-Wan Kenobi to be one of the most standout characters in George Lucas’ prequel trilogy. Neeson brought a confident wisdom to the character that easily earned the respect of fans.

It was also a role in which Neeson functioned as a clear father figure not only to his apprentice but to young Anakin Skywalker as well. When he fought Darth Maul, a battle that ultimately ended in his character’s demise, Neeson showed a new generation of fans what it looks like to fight with a lightsaber in a battle that could change everything. With Neeson’s distinct accent, Qui-Gon Jinn stands out as one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars franchise.
