The holidays are here, and it’s a time filled with warm fuzzy feelings. With that in mind here are the most heartwarming moments in Star Wars.

The holiday season has arrived and with it comes times for families to get together. At its heart, it’s a time where we enjoy each other’s company and are thankful for what we have.

The holidays are filled with good food and plenty of heartwarming moments. Whether that is reminiscing about Thanksgivings’ of years past or making new memories, these are moments families look forward to and cherish all season long.

While there are only a couple of holidays we actually see in Star Wars, there are plenty of heartwarming moments. Whether it is proclamations of love, friends helping other friends out, or seeing someone redeem themselves for past wrongdoings, these are moments that brought those warm fuzzy feelings to our hearts when we first saw them and continue to do with subsequent viewings. Here are the five most heartwarming moments in Star Wars.

1. When Anakin Skywalker redeems himself

The Star Wars saga comes to its true climax in Return of the Jedi. Luke goes to confront Darth Vader with the news that he accepts that he is his father. Vader tells him Anakin is dead and shocks Luke when he brings him to the Emperor on the second Death Star.

After some bickering back and forth and a lightsaber battle with his dad, Luke nearly kills the Sith Lord. While he’s urged to finish his father off by the Emperor, Luke stops just before delivering the final blow. This upsets Darth Sidious and he zaps Luke with Force Lightning. While Luke is getting shocked, his father slowly gets up. He watches his son writhe in pain and listens to his pleas for help, as the Emperor continues to blast him with lightning.

Just before Luke is about to take his final breath, Anakin Skywalker reemerges and picks up his former master and tosses him over the railing and down the core of the Death Star II. While this scene includes the death of a character, it also is very heartwarming. We see that Anakin Skywalker was never truly gone. The love from his son brought him back to the light, and he was able to destroy the evilest presence in the galaxy in the process. We see a man who is redeemed from all the death and destruction he has caused and if that doesn’t bring warmness to your heart, you may want to check your pulse.
