FanSided 250: Where are Star Wars fans ranked in 2020?
By Mia Johnson
Star Wars fans are in good standing in this year’s FanSided 250. Here’s where we rank on the list!
As we begin to wrap up the year, it’s time once again to celebrate the FanSided 250. Every year, 250 fandoms in sports and entertainment are ranked, and it’s always exciting to see where our fandoms land.
This year, Star Wars has not one but three whole spots on the FanSided 250! So not only is “Star Wars” ranked on the fandom list, but we also get The Mandalorian and The Child. Those additions are quite excellent, too, because The Mandalorian has almost grown into something completely different and separate from Star Wars — or at least the Skywalker saga. Yes, it’s still connected to the greater Star Wars universe, but some people are enjoying The Mandalorian more than the regular Star Wars movies themselves.
The Child, too, has just become an absolute rockstar. Whenever The Mandalorian stars are asked about the little one, they always say that Baby Yoda is the biggest celebrity on set. So with all that in mind, where do Star Wars fans rank on the FanSided 250 in 2020?
- #3: The Child
- #91: The Mandalorian
- #111: Star Wars
With The Child coming in at #3 on the FanSided 250, that actually gives him (and us as Star Wars fans) a distinguished award. The Child takes the #1 spot in Entertainment as well as the #1 spot in Celebrities. (Again, with all the praise from his co-stars, it’s no wonder.)
To celebrate The Child, we on Dork Side of the Force have also released a must-read feature story on why the world is so enamored with the little alien child.

Thankfully, the “Star Wars” fandom hasn’t sunk to the bottom 50 percent of the list, but it’s no wonder it’s ranked lower than the other two fandoms. When you think about it, the fandom outside of The Mandalorian has changed since last year. From 2015-2019, we were getting major Star Wars movies within the Skywalker saga back to back. Now, with The Rise of Skywalker over with and ending that saga, new movies (the bread and butter of Star Wars) won’t be around for a least another three years or so.
We can expect to see Star Wars hover at/around that mark next year, but who knows? Maybe with Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary coming next year, we’ll get some kind of Star Wars miracle!
