After a tumultuous start to the year, the Obi-Wan series is back on track. And a familiar face will be joining the fun…

During today’s Disney Investor presentation, further details on the upcoming Ob-Wan Kenobi series have been confirmed. The limited series will officially be titled Obi-Wan Kenobi and is set to begin production in March 2021.

In addition to this, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy confirmed that Hayden Christensen will be playing the role of Darth Vader in the series.

As previously announced, Obi-Wan Kenobi will be directed by Deborah Chow, who previously worked in the Star Wars universe on season one of The Mandalorian. Ewan McGregor will reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the series set 10 years after the events of Revenge of the Sith, a period of exile for Obi-Wan following Order 66.

Revenge of the Sith

The big news, of course, is the confirmation of Hayden Christensen’s return as Darth Vader. While details of his involvement are, naturally, sparse at this stage, Lucasfilm president, Kathleen Kennedy stated the return of Christensen would set up “the rematch of the century.”

The series itself hasn’t been without its hiccups. At the start of the year, production of the series was put on hold, reportedly due to the scripts presented. It’s excellent to hear, then, that not only have these issues been remedied, but production is now in a position to go ahead.

Obi-Wan Kenobi wasn’t, of course, the only update provided during the presentation. Disney announced that a total of 10 Star Wars-centered series’ are in production for the streaming platform. With a whole host of Star Wars content in the works, as well as a pair of feature films entering production also, the future of the franchise is looking incredibly bright.

How excited are you for the return of Hayden Christensen? Keep your eyes peeled for further coverage on everything announced during the presentation!
