Star Wars has confirmed that a Lando series will be coming to Disney+

Sometimes, rumors and wishes do come true. And today, Lucasfilm confirmed many rumors that have been out there, including the addition of a Lando Calrissian spinoff series.

This was announced during the Disney Investor Day 2020 presentation today. And while it was a brief announcement for sure, it’s certainly good news. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy was able to confirm that Dear White People creator Justin Simien will be behind the series, and it sounds like a lot should be in store for the 2021 project.

The series, which is still in the developing stages, has not confirmed (unfortunately) when the series will take place in the Star Wars timeline. And as such, it has not confirmed who will be in the lead for the series. Back when the show was just a rumor, many speculated that Donald Glover will be back to reprise the role as a young Lando. Then again, we’d also love to see Billy Dee Williams back. He returned for The Rise of Skywalker as well as The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, so there’s always enough Landos to go around.

It will be interesting to see where they decide to go with this series. If it does follow the continuation of Solo: A Star Wars Story or even some time slightly prior to that, we’d love to take a sneak peek into Lando’s life before he got involved with the Rebel crew.

Either way, it looks like there are a lot of good things in store for Star Wars and Disney+ at this time. Among those other projects, they confirmed were coming include an Ahsoka Tano spinoff and a completely new series called Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic.
