What books can you expect from Star Wars in 2021? Look no further than The High Republic series.
Star Wars fans have a lot to look forward to in 2021, including a new series of books. The High Republic is the new wave of novels and comic books that take place roughly 200 years prior to Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
The new series was set to debut in August at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim but was delayed due to publishing setbacks. However, selected books will premiere in January 2021, and some are available for pre-order now!
One of the best aspects of these new releases is the fact that they are targeted towards adults and teenagers alike. The new stories will not overlap with any of the current featured films or television series. Additionally, it will feature all-new storylines, characters, and places.
Creators describe this time in the Star Wars universe as a golden age where Jedi and the galaxy are in their prime, a way we’ve never seen them before. Lucasfilm publishing creative director Michael Siglain revealed that fans will learn what scares the Jedi.

“We are so excited to be opening up such a rich, fertile era for our authors to explore,” Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy said in a press release. “We’ll get to see the Jedi in their prime.”
“This was a golden age for the Jedi, and also a time of galactic expansion in the Outer Rim,” Lucasfilm Vice President Franchise Content and Strategy James Waugh added. “So expect there to be rich tales of exploration; charting out the galaxy, meeting new cultures, and discovering what pioneer life in the Outer Rim was like. This is an incredible sandbox for our storytellers to play in, both within publishing and beyond, and we can’t wait to see the great fiction they build within it.”
